As the title suggests, CIT applications must be turned in by Friday, March 29 at 12:00pm (Noon) EST for consideration. Â*Please note that space is limited and CIT applications will be partially considered based on time of application.
To apply, please review the terms and conditions at http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/employment.html under "Counselor in Training (CIT)" and then complete the application by following the "Camp CAEN CIT Application" link at the bottom of that page.

I sent mine in a while ago in January or so, for 2nd session.
Basically, I'd like to be a camper 1st session and CIT 2nd session, being a CIT in the same classes as I was a camper in 1st session so that I know the class I'd be in pretty well.
Anyways, do you know when we'll be notified if we've been accepted or not? If I'm not accepted as a CIT 2nd session, then I want to be a camper 2nd again, and in different classes of course.

Please e-mail campcaen@engin.umich.edu or call (734) 936-8039 to make sure that we know who you are and what your plans are.
Once the CIT applications are closed it will probably be close to a week before decisions are made. CIT spaces are limited for both commuters and residents however we have many more residential CIT applications than commuter CIT applications. If you can commute but would rather stay in the dorms, please note so on your application or if you have applied already email campcaen@engin.umich.edu and let us know that you would like to be a commuter CIT if you are not selected as a residential CIT. Letting us know that you can commute will not lower your chances of being a residential CIT.
I was thinking about applying to be a CIT, but looking things over it seems that being a CIT will put a serious damper on my chances of employment back here in kalamazoo. Â*
The thing is, I would really like to work at Camp CAEN sometime in the next four years as a full-fledged counselor and/or instructor (I'm going to UM - engin starting next year). Â*Will not ever having been a CIT significantly affect this possibility?
Thanks,
-Josh

josh:
Being a CIT is not a requirement for being a counselor or instructor. I was never a CIT, and I'm a counselor for 2002. However, 3 of our counselors this year were CITs last year, so it does help your chances. Anyways, too bad that you won't be here this summer, but maybe I can work with you next summer.

I also was never a CIT and have been employed with Camp CAEN for...oh...4 years? Â*I forget. Â* So what you would want to do is send your application for employment when you get to U of M. Â*In the past what has helped consideration for employment was (1) former employment with camp CAEN (CIT counts here perhaps), (2) Being a UofM student might help but we have a lot of staff from other universities, (3) being a camper at one time. Â* While these don't matter exclusively (we've had lots of staff who haven't even been to camp I think), they help. Â*
Also, this post might not be correct as I've never really dealt with hiring staff. Â*Just observations and what I've been told over the years. Â* So relax, I'm sure you have a good chance to eventually be staff if you aren't a CIT.

hey all....I know that we said we would get the info to you all about who were CITs soon, but it will be a little bit longer. Â*James Todd, the director of the camp, is out of the office this week and will be back soon. Â*We just need him to make the final approval, and then he will send out emails.
Sorry about the delay and thank you all for applications!

Alright, heres what you can do http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
The CIT decisions have been made, it is now just a matter of getting the notifications out. Since James was out of town this week, nothing has been sent out yet. If you can't wait you can call the camp line at (734) 936-8039 and ask if you were selected. If you'd rather wait, send in your app for first session then check your email later.
