I just got a new GeForce 4 Mx440, but when I start a game, it freezes my computer within a minute! some games that are really small and old don't, but Gore, NwN, crazy taxi, and Age of wonders 2 all do it. I went to a store and they thought it was because I had one stick of Ram PC-100, and one PC-133... but it still freezes with just one of them... I have an AMD athlon 750mhz - any ideas??

Try the new Omega drivers, good luck with them http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Sounds like it could be a heat problem. Though I doubt a GeForce 4 mx series card would create much of one, it's still possible. Make sure that there's plenty of airflow going around in your case, and maybe even try running with the case off and a big fan blowing right into it.

About the omega drivers, they're not official. They DO make a nice visual improvement, but they also say right on the site that they WILL give a 10-30 fps drop on most games. With a GF4 mx card, that may not be the greatest thing, especially on the newest games.

Just go to www.nvidia.com and download the newest detonator drivers (29.42 methinks), make sure there aren't any conflicts that could cause freezing, etc. etc., and whatever else you think you may have done to cause this problem.

I do think that this would be a heat problem though, so check that out first. Hope this helps!

since the card isn't very hot (so to speak), if it is a heat problem there's a good chance that is is a fan problem, i.e: the fan on the card isn't spinning, or doesn't start spinning at the right times for some reason. you may want to check on that, too.
