I've recently switched from Linux to OpenBSD on the computer I'm bringing to session two. I've never used either OS on a network. Is there anyone at session two who will be able to help me connect to the network using OpenBSD (and possibly answer some newbie questions too)? I have my own network card, but will probably need help configuring it.

Thanks,

Kristen

I can hook up Linux to a network, but I don't know how different OpenBSD is from that. I can certainly help you out.

OpenBSD rules. If ya need help, just lemme know. Although I am tempted to ask why you decided to run openbsd for something other than server purposes. It's really not that great as a workstation os. Then again, that's just my opinion

Thanks guys!

I chose OpenBSD because I like attempting to learn new OSs. My current Linux distribution (SuSE) was crawling on my (older) machine, too, so I thought I'd try something that wasn't so huge. So I guess there isn't too much of a practical reason now, but hopefully I'll be able to learn some stuff that I might be able to use later if I ever need it.

Thanks for your offer to help... see you at camp!

I like linux and can help with linux but never used any sort og *BSD but its a VERY POWERFUL OS since it mostly runs on servers... For example, Yahoo runs ALL of its servers on *BSD for max uptime and reliability. *BSD and linux are forms of UNIX. Most commands are the same. You have to set your eathernet card to connect to the network(eth0 which is first eathernet card...)... I frogot how to connect UNIX to a network from the command line. Search online, you'll probably find it!
