you can get the software from http://www.earthviewer.com/. (was /.'ed not to long ago) Its quite cool to play around with to say the least. Anyway as you should be able to tell from that image its North Campus. Go from there to IRAQ it does a very nice pan:)

which is where? sorry, I looked, but I don't see it.
I also love the 1km accuracy all over the globe, with the exception of Iraq (especially Baghdad) which is better than many US places.
Go figure. The military is one of their customers, so what did you expect? http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

I downloaded it a few days ago, pretty cool stuff. The neatest is the 3 inch resolution of places like Vegas. You can read the writing on the tops of cars and trucks http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

w00t! I saw this on /. earlier... Currently waiting for my activation code email. Can't wait! I downloaded the 3D pro version. (There's a FREE home use version for Nvidia cards also...)
This is excellent, especially since the Military is one of their customers, and their prob. spying on Iraq right now lol...
I used their website version to view images of my house, and they are VERY NICE images... Excellent Technology...
all i can say is "WOW!"

also, what on earth is it with this ploy to allow only nVidia cards for the personal version!?!?
And since that's the version they're encouraging schools to use...I can't imagine most schools buy special graphic cards (let alone nVidia) for the computers...they'd go onboard (I know my school does). And unless it's an nForce mobo...
geez, that's so dumb.
