I already know quite a bit of php with mysql commands. I font want to end up wasting my parents money learning stuff i already know. Just wondering what are the basic outlines of the php class (if you know them yet) because if I already know most of the class outline Ill just take another class. http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier on this... I didn't really have an outline ready.

Anyways, it's going to go something like this:
- Short HTML review, especially FORM tags
- Intro to PHP (echo command, for loops, if statements, etc.)
- How to read documentation ;-)
- Form processing with PHP
- Database basics
- SQL language basics
- MySQL data types
- Making pages to view data
- Making pages to add data to a database
- Storing passwords securely using PHP/MySQL
- Special Topics

Special topics will be if we have time, and by student request or if I feel we have time for one or more of them. They may include:
- Introduction to dynamic image creation (really cool)
- Introduction to dynamically creating PDF files (also cool, but more difficult)
- Storing image/data files directly in a database
- File IO
- Performance considerations of a database-driven dynamic site

The final project for this class will be to write a simple journal/blogging system that could be used for a personal homepage, but I'll be flexible and probably let you do something else if you ask me about it.

There's the basic outline, hope it helps.

Dangit...I was hoping no one would sign up for Java so that I could take Justin's class instead of teaching http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
