I got Generals when it came out, and it's been one of my favorite RTS games I've played in a long time. The single player isn't anything special, but once you get into multiplayer, the balance and strategy is awesome. Hopefully this'll be a game we play at camp a lot.

Greg, you'd better get this game - I want to actually BEAT you in an RTS for once, lol.

Jordan, just give up that hope of beating Greg. I want to be able to dunk a ball on a 10 foot hoop, but it isn't going to happen.

Heck, you can't even dunk on a 6-foot hoop. http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I had heard about C&C:G for a while but never really looked in to it. Maybe its something I should get http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

This game probably won't be too popular at camp because:
1) It looks pretty darn complex
2) The Pierpont machines can't handle it

I have a feeling the next CS patch will be the most popular this year...

I have the game... Anyone wanna play multiplayer direct connect with me...? http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Greg, your right about the game probably being NOT popular at camp because...
1. The GAME AT MINIMUM REQUIRES 1.8GB of hard disk space to install
2. The computers probably can't handle it...
It runs even kinda slow on my GeForce2 32MB Graphics Card but OK.

Its quite a good game, and I have you to thank for getting me into it:) It definately owns and once they get some of the bugs out it will be better.

Favorite thing, Laser Lock.

Yea, right now the game is still a little buggy. The multiplayer lobby interface also comes nowhere CLOSE to battle.net.

The game actually isn't that complex. It's a very deep game strategicly, but there isn't nearly the micromanagement that Warcraft 3 and Starcraft have.

What I really like about it is how easy it is to get multiple bases and a very good economy going. Don't let this turn you off though - all that does is open up the game to being much more strategic and tactic base, rather than working your ass off trying to spread around the map the fastest.

Also, each of the three factions are very different yet very balanced. The US has the most technological advanced weapons, with tanks that can shoot down rockets, Aurora bombers which can take out most buildings in two hits, laser-guided rocket troops, particle cannon, etc. China is mostly about hoarding and overall power. They're very slow, but tanks and infantry get a bonus in big groups. They also have power in the devastating Nuke Cannon, and the ultimate nuclear bomb. Finally, the GLA (global liberation army - a terrorist organization) is all about sneak attacks and slow but harmful tactics. Suicide bombers, truck bombs that can disguise itself as an enemy unit, anthrax attacks, etc.

It's all very cool. It's only getting average reviews though if you go to www.gamerankings.com and check it out. However, if you read the reviews, you'd see it's mostly because of the average single player mode and not-so-great interface. (it's really not THAT bad, but it could be better) The multiplayer though.....it's sooooo much fun. And anyone who has played it will tell you that as well.

It is bad that it won't run on the lab computers (even if they have new ones this year), but hopefully a bunch of people will have it in the dorms.

Well, the machines in EECS 2331 (P4 1.7, geforce2) should be able to handle it, but we don't have those labs "reserved" this year (like Pierpont). Gettimg them reserved isn't a big deal, we can look in to it during camp if there is enough interest.

I'm curious to see what new machines CAEN is going to get and where they're going to be put...these new ones will be more than able to handle C&C:G http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

oh sweet. Yea, in order to get full performance at max details, they recommend something like a P4 1.8 and a GeForce 3 or so, so a 1.7 and GeForce 2s will be sweet.

And although I'm not really into Counter-Strike any more, I know I'll at least be playing it SOME.....so no more software mode, yay.
