I'd like to apply for camp 2003, but I want to know what the guidelines are for the advanced programming classes.

Or could I go ahead and sign up now, and then make the program when you guys get over your lazy spell? ;)

I'm not sure how they are handling it this year, last year, it was possible to sign up for an advanced class and then submit a project. I also believe that when you sign up for an advanced class, you are asked to preference other classes in the event you cannot get into the class. Remember, acceptence into the advanced class is conditional on whether you complete the advanced program or not. As for the guidlines, they should be coming out shortly.

Well, I thought last years was fun (make a program to display all ordered fractions with a denominator of 1 to N with no repeating). But then again, I'm not a normal person. The key about the project is it's to give us an idea of where you stand programming wise.

That program WAS fun, but I remember doing in way back in 1999. The plan is to make more class-specific assignments, eg a C++ assignment for game dev., a Java assignment for Adv. Java, a HTML-type project for WebApps.

I have some ideas, I think we should be able to develop them into assignments fairly soon... I'll make sure that someone posts a message to this messsage board when they are ready.

BACK to the TOPIC at hand!!

There aren't specs for the advanced classes yet, but when there are they will be posted on the website. I hope/think that someone will post it online here too.

I would recommend having your browser tell you once that page has been updated so you can find out without having to visit the site every day.

Sorry for the delay...we have mentioned this to the 'higher ups' and we haven't heard anything. Sorry.

How "Advanced" does one need to be in C++ to apply for the Programming Computer Games course?
What if I only know C++ that works in the console, (ie, no GUI)?

---Of topic---

I am sad... I might only be able to come for session 1. Â*Had I my druthers, it would be 1-3, but I am going on a trip with a youth movment. Â*OTOH, I havent applied yet for the trip and they might be out of space! Â*(That would be a good thing! Â*I have pressure from my youth-group friends to go, but CC interests me more! Â*And the trip would be a depressing one... Its all `bout the Holocaust...)

OTOOH- Â*UncleDan, do you still have the code for outgoing e-mail... Â*I finally got off my lazy bum a few weeks ago and finished that project! Â*Gah I'm lazy...

For the games class, you don't need to know GUI programming, and the assignment will be a console-based assignment.

I am working on the advanced program specifications, they should be available by the end of the week. I will post them here and they will be available at http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/advanced.html as it says on the brochure. The reason that this is taking a while is because we're completely redoing the way that we think about advanced programs. The programs will require specific knowledge that is required for the class: C++ for GameDev, Java for Java, and HTML for WebApps, and we won't have the same assignment that we've had every year since... well, a long time, at least 1999. I promise they'll be fun :-D

No blame neccisary.

The Advanced Java looks easy, and is easy...
(I just have to get around to coding it!)

How do you instructors feel about easter eggs?
