Don't worry too much about the roommate thing, we'll get you paired up with someone. And no, it won't be a girl (sorry about that). Your room isn't where most of the action at camp is anyway, it's mostly a place to crash.
And, dude, do you like not get to see girls at school or otherwise in your regular life or something? 'Cause you seem a tad obsessed... Sure, there'll be girls at camp, but I don't think that's all that much to get all riled up about.

Heya Ben,
Girls aren't really anything to look forward to at camp. Last year, session 1, there was all of 4 (I think) girls at camp. You'll get paired up with a room mate at camp. Wish I had a room mate last year, something happened and my roomy switched to another room so I got the room to myself.
-Mike
ah but you are forgetting the new agressive girls program. Aimed at increasing the girl count! We may even double last year and have 8 !@# Feel the excitement.
How is that going anyway? Do we have a count of how many girls will actually be there, Dan, Jamie? Just curious.

From what I can tell now there will be more girls this year than before (which is good). As of right now there are 30+, but that includes all sessions (dorm and commuter). So it looks like there will be more girls. Also the advanced program should be a sucess for the first year. But we still have some room left so people are welcome to apply!
I hope this helps, also all of this data will change before camp starts.

See FAQ 3.14 (http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/faq.html#314). Anyways, lights out will be at 11 PM. After that, you will be allowed to stay up for a while, but after a certain time (which we will tell you about at camp), we expect it to be absolutely silent in the hall. Some of us do want and need sleep, and you are going to need to get up at 7:30 AM every morning. And I will make sure that you get up.
You can silently stay up as late as you want in your room and we won't know, but make sure your roommate is cool with you staying up past the "allowed" time (if you have a flashlight or computer monitor turned on, make sure he doesn't mind).

speaking of which, MY JOB is to make sure none of you try anything wannabe-slick, like sneaking out at night, and staying in your rooms after lights out (so your parents don't freak out when they get a phone call at 5am saying we have lost their child in the middle of the night). So I will be bouncing off the walls (quietly) while you sleep and probably playing CS in my room (i've strategically placed cameras that I can surveillance from my room). and OH YES i will be there to make sure you're up. along with Stanley's ear piercing drumming and our shouting http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif (yay for pixie dust and cranberry juice fuel). enjoyeth http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

hey, krishogu! LOL! LOL!!! INTRESTING, funny... How come we can't play cs at night like I usually do at home on the weekends??? And you can??? Do u seriously have survalience cameras like the x10 kind that you can secretly put in a room and watch us sleeping or playing(i want to do that...) at night after lights out??? Wouldn't it be too dark for the cameras to record video??? I'm just curious about some stuff... lol...

~Hey all,
come on, I have one of those x10 cameras...they suck...they have like only 120 lines of res....+ to see in the dark, u'd need the nightvision stuff...which after all that, the camara will be about as big as my laptop (I got a OLD laptop)
Also, I'm sure its U-M job, not to have people pepping at us well we are in are dorms (at least I sure hope so, or Michigan State here I come) lol. NOTE: Everyone that has video cams, bring them, we can set some stuff up with netmeeting...we could really have some fun...lol Tty all later,
~Ben~

The answer to all of your questions is as follows:
1) Kristen is magical
2) We won't spy on you in your rooms (I think that's illegal)
3) We will keep watch at night, so don't be trying funny stuff
4) Why use netmeeting? You can just kinda walk over and talk to someone, unless it's after roomcheck, in which case it's most likely after lights-out, so cameras would be ineffective anyway

It IS illegal to spy on your rooms...BUT if you do try something funny...well lets not go there...lets just have a nice pleasant time. =)

http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ~Hey all~ yeah, we won't try anything that funny.
Why netmeeting would be cool, if it WAS past the time to visit.....I doubt you could tell if we had a little lights on....which also brings me to the conclusion..\

Stan, think I should bring my tenors and we can make pretty music together?

Heck yeah drumline rocks.
Ok, so we have snare and tenors... I'll play bass if someone gets me one... I always liked playing bass the most anyway.
Now all we need is a cymbalist...
Stanley

i don't think i'm bringing a snare this year. I've been told i need to know tenors. So if all goes as plan, a pair is coming with me.

Pair? Â*How about set? Â*http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
If you bring those, yea that would rock. Â*Evan said he might bring his snare. Â*We did this sweet duet for a show at our school called Vaudeville, pretty much just a talent/humor show. Â*We did this duet and it was sweet Â*http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
After we did this duet, everyone in our school was like "yea, marching band is still gay, but those drum guys were awesome!" Maybe we can put on a show for the camp if we have the drums/audience.

You do not get to play cs all night and I get to because YOU have class to go to EARLY in the morning, whereas I get to sleep in until 6 pm. (besides the fact that I'm a counselor, and you're my lowly minion. http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif ) but don't worry, you will have hours upon hours of free time to play cs, either in your rooms, or in the Pierpont Commons Labs.
About the x10 cameras, HA! I said I strategically place them, I never said where. I wouldn't use x10 cameras anyways (POS'http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif I'd use some high tech nightvision cameras issued to.. well, that's already too much info for you.. (I used to work for the government, so don't doubt me!http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif. hehehehe. camp will be fun!

i haven't been trained at all in the arts of percussion (what's a key change?), however i do excel when it comes to beating things repeatedly (drums, cymbals, campers, etc). So just hook me up and i will join you. Sweet.
http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif Ok....I think you got your point throught with the campers...I don't plan on trying as much stuff as I was....(motion dector??) sweet....gotta hook me up with some of that stuff. I'll try the good side, instead of evil...School sucks..I'm sitting in Social Studies....gotta go ~Ben~

Evan (Spaceman Bob) and I performed a duet, me on Tenors and him on Snare, for our school Vaudeville show - student directed talent/comedy show. Evan is bringing his snare, and if Stan lets me use his Tenors...... http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif ......then maybe we can put it on for the camp http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
