Oh...gaw...*drool*

Man, to think that just some few years away completely realistic environments will be able to render in real time on your computer.

Will it render sweetly?
Yes.
Will it change how we look at graphics cards?
Yeah.
Will it produce enough heat to cook a flank steak?
Yes.

*blinkblinks*
Everything but the last thing excites me. No offense guys, but no graphics card should need that kind of cooler. I'm begining to think that nVidia might want to spend a little more time on the design of the chips so they don't require their own refrigerators to stay cool. But that's my two cents.

While the final design of the cooler WILL be similar to that shown, it shouldn't be nearly as loud. Nor produce THAT much heat.

Heck, I'm still waiting for bump-mapping to be supported in games - screw the GeForce FX, when will the GeForce 2 GTS be used to its full potential?

LOL, this card beats the 9700 in every way, except for raw memory bandwidth.

1280x1024, max details, Doom 3 - runs around 30 fps on a 9700, runs at around 45 fps on the GeForce FX.

www.tomshardware.com has more benchmarks http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

This is just oneof the levels on which you guys have been worrying me

benchmarks are ####, I run doom3 at 60 FPS. =)

not at 1280x1024, at max details ;)

the leaked build you're playing runs at medium details.

So this thread was pretty old, but I read some new info on Slashdot that i found interesting. Apperently the super-sweet card wasn't as super sweet as we originally thought. Check out the slash dot article and follow some of the various links. NV is definetly not dead, but this can't be good for the company. Especially with ATi slowly making ground up in the software catagory (Since they started rolling out new drivers, I haven't had nearly the graphics problems i've had in the past). Here's the link: http://slashdot.org/articles/03/02/09/1719245.shtml?tid=152

I've talked with a bunch of people about this, including stan. Basically, the GeForce FX is an overpriced, way too loud, power hogging piece of ####.

It comes out 6 months after the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro, is BARELY faster (the 9700 Pro wins in some tests), sucks 30W MORE power (the 9700 Pro is around 45W, the FX is over 70), and sounds like a friggen vacuum.

ATI Rocks, end of story http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
