Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out what the next PC game I should look into getting is. I don't really know what's coming, and I figured I'd ask you guys.

There are a few I'm really looking forward to.

One is of course Unreal Tournament 2k3. If you're a FPS fan, then this game is a must-own. The original UT was, and still is, one of the best online FPSs ever, and 2k3 will beat it in every way. One of the features of the game that I'm looking forward is the Karma physics engine. Everything that has Karma physics applied to it in the game - like dead bodies, objects and lights in the level, etc. - will react realisticly to gravity, bullets and such. Kind of like in Hitman and Hitman 2 where guards you kill slump over like a ragdoll http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

UT2k3 should be out around mid-October.

Another game, one that's also coming out for XBox and Gamecube, is called Splinter Cell. Picture a REALLY GOOD version of Metal Gear Solid 2, with near-perfect stealth implementation. Check out the XBox screens on xbox.ign.com - the lighting effects are beyond anything I've ever seen before, and yes, that's not including Doom 3 of course. But the best part is how well the real-time lighting works, keeping you from being seen realisticaly.

I don't know when Splinter Cell will be out. The XBox version comes out in Fall this year, but I'm not sure about the GC and PC versions.

Command and Conquer: Generals will hopefully be the game we're all playing at camp next year. Finally - no more CS day-in day-out. Well, it'll probably be side-by-side with Warcraft 3. Anyways, I don't feel like going into detail on this game. Just know - three races, 15 years into our future, first realistic C&C game, easily the best strategy game 3d engine that I have EVER seen, not to mention graphics for ANY game.

C&C Generals is coming out early January next year.

There are probably more that I'm forgetting, but with those PC titles, as well as Mario, Metroid, Starfox, Blinx, SOCOM (1st PS2 online title), XBox Live, and tons tons more, no gamer will be bored this year and early next http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I'm sure there are a ton of good multiplayer games on XBox, but Halo is the only one I ever hear of, besides the usual ports on all other systems. I guess check out IGN for some reviews.

Don't make me say what you know I'm gonna say http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Yea. I've been following Planetside, well, at least looking forward to it, since it was announced. I like the idea of massively multiplayer online games, but I just don't like RPGs at all. FPSs are my favorite. MMOG + FPS = dream - the first game I'd be willing to pay a monthly fee for. Hopefully it's not too much.

I just bought (yes - bought) UT2k3. It's very cool so far. I haven't been able to play it online yet actually - I've been without internet for the past few days - but the single player isn't too bad. The intro rocks http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif The graphics are also awesome, especially with texture detail turned all the way up. Too bad there's no bump mapping - the best textures in the world still can't be affected by a light source realistically without bumpmapping.

I also got Mafia (notice the lacking of the word bought *whistle), which is a very cool game. Picture it as the missing half of GTA 3. If Mafia and GTA 3 were combined, it would be the ultamite game. GTA 3 = freedom, do whatever you want, and the best part - traffic laws don't apply to you. Mafia has the amazing action sequences and great graphics lacking from GTA 3. However in Mafia, you can get cought speeding, the cars are slower (takes place in 1930s), and there isn't as much freedom to do what you want to do. The story is really awesome though, and the cutscenes (in-game engine) are done extremely well.

No One Lives Forever 2 just came out, getting good reviews, but I wasn't a big fan of the first one. I should give it another shot.

Dats about it for now!
