After -D12-_Kows and I have spent the last 4-5 days researching constantly on new parts for my new computer, the final product is almost done and ready to be shipped. I configured this identicle computer at Alienware, and it came out to be over $1000 more!! Advice: build your own. A few days research can buy you a PS2, Gamecube, AND XBox, plus games, lol.

Everything is from www.newegg.com unless otherwise stated http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Note - some prices include shipping, others don't. Most prices are too high
because of the fact that shipping is less when you order more.

my large, loud, overkillage (http://www.maximum3d.com/reviews/sx1030b.htm) kind of looks a bit like the alienware cases with the gills at the bottom. it weighs way too much and buzzes extremely loud. it's a monster; got it for like $115 somewhere.

Since I've posted this I've actually changed a lot of things here and there.

This is my case now:
Antec case (http://www.antec-inc.com/en_plus660.html)
The old one only had 1 hard drive bay, lol. Sucked too.

I've switched to the MSI GeForce 4 Ti4600 because it's $50 cheaper, AND comes with an awesome games bundle (No One Lifes Forever, Sacrifice, and the lackluster Aquanox) plus 7 game demos)

I am now getting a Plextor 40/12/40 CD-RW instead of the Asus drive

I'm still getting it at a total of $2300 though. http://campcaen.engin.umich.edu/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

The 'alienware case' as you refer to it can be purchased seperately. Â*It is known as the Dragon DX case, and can be found at directron.com for about $60. Â*Comes in many colors, check out the color cases section (under cases, of course). Â*Here is an example:
Dragon DX-01BLD Mid-Tower ARX Case (http://www.directron.com/dx01bld.html)
The only problem is getting the matching color monitor and mouse...

Yahoo! I finally got the computer last weekend, and my 3Dmark2001 SE score rose from 1200 to 10267!!!!! And that's without overclocking, whoopie.

If anyone is looking for a good way to watch and record their favorite TV shows on their computer, at high quality, I'd HIGHLY recommend the WinTV PVR card I got. I'm not sure how much the RAID array or 2100+ is helping, but with the WinTV PVR, I was able to capture nearly PERFECT TV quality, 640x480 resolution, 30 frames per second.....in the background!!!! Yes, I had it minimized while capturing, was browsing the web, talking to people, reading e-mail, etc. Not to mention that every once in a while I'd maximize the TV and watch it while it was still recording, lol. To get this amazing quality though, it WAS taking about 1 gigabyte per 30 minute show, but I can easily cut that down by compressing it further into DivX or some MPEG 4 format.

Overall, you can find it on Pricewatch for about $160, and considering it has built-in support for burning VCDs, an infared remote control, FM radio, inputs for video games and such, a high-quality VCR recorder, and my favorite: A TV recorder scheduler with built-in support for Titan TV's online schedule (http://www.titantv.com) where you can simply click on a TV show to set it to record. It's awesome!!

Um....as someone who used to own an All-in-wonder, I'm going to be frank about my opinion on tv capture: it's not really something worth having. It's the kind of thing where having it is nice the four times you use it, but otherwise, it just kind of does nothing. Then again, I don't watch much TV, so I could be biased. Personally, the 160 bucks is better spent on something like a better speaker or system, or a KVM switch if you have multiple computers. But that's just my 2¢.

Yup, as I said - only worth it for some people. For me it's nice to schedule to record shows that I'll know I'll miss, WinTV automatically encodes them into VCD format, burn them to a CD-RW, and I can watch it on my dvd player. I've had video capture for a while though, and I use it a lot.
